What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy or Counseling is a way of providing valuable help to people dealing with a wide variety of mental disorders or emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms and negative thoughts so that the person can function better and increase their personal well-being.

Problems or issues addressed in psychotherapy include various difficulties in coping with everyday life, e.g. stress, the impact of trauma, illness or loss and specific mental disorders such as depression.

There are several different types of psychotherapy, and certain types may work better with certain problems. Psychotherapy may well be used in conjunction with medication or other treatments.
